Smart

I went to Harvard as a smart person and came out as a smart person from Harvard. But Harvard didnt make me smart - They selected me because I was smart

You take you

You take you to where you want to go.
Don't rely on anyone else to do that
Not your work
Not your friend
Not anyone else

Only you take you.
You also know where to take to
Nobody knows but you.
You do you
You take you to where you want to go

Work is a game
Play to win the game.
But at the end of the day, it is work.

True work is doing work to see the light of what God put you here for.
That work is true.

Work work is fake, it is a game, sea of characters and players - who come and go - and have no bearing on your inner being. Surely you can't count this experience as adding any true weight to the value of who you are.

True work is doing the work to uncover you, finding who you are, doing you because you are created in the image of God and your purpose is to be there.

Barkley L Hendricks

"I didn't care what was being done by other artists or what was happening around me," he told The Brooklyn Rail. "I was dealing with what I wanted to do. Period."

There are three responses to a pice of design: yes,no and wow. Wow is the one to aim for.

Emerson

"… I can see nothing at last, in success or failure, than more or less of vital force supplied from the Eternal. The results of life are uncalculated and uncalculable. The years teach much which the days never know. The persons who compose our company, converse, and come and go, and design and execute many things, and somewhat comes of it all, but an unlooked for result. The individual is always mistaken. He designed many things, and drew in other persons as coadjutors, quarrelled with some or all, blundered much, and something is done; all are a little advanced, but the individual is always mistaken. It turns out somewhat new, and very unlike what he promised himself."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson, 'Experience'

Milosz

Encounter by Czeslaw Milosz

We were riding through frozen fields in a wagon at dawn.
A red wing rose in the darkness.

And suddenly a hare ran across the road.
One of us pointed to it with his hand.

That was long ago. Today neither of them is alive,
Not the hare, nor the man who made the gesture.

O my love, where are they, where are they going
The flash of a hand, streak of movement, rustle of pebbles.
I ask not out of sorrow, but in wonder.

(Wilno, 1936)

Bloom

"… if a poem pierces you enough, in heart and in intellect, and you never really get over it, it qualifies as an immortal wound. Shakespeare (Hamlet) speaks of 'wonder wounded hearers'.. Any poet who wounds you by wonder has given you, probably, an immortal wound.

- Harold Bloom

Mark Strand

Keeping Things Whole by Mark Strand

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk
I part the air
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
where my body's been.

We all have reasons
for moving.
I move
to keep things whole.

Philip Levine

The Second Going by Philip Levine

Again the
day begins, only
no one wants its sanity
or its blinding clarity. Daylight is
not what we came all this way for. A
pinch of salt, a drop of schnapps in our cup
of tears, the ticket to the life to come, a short life of
long nights & absent dawns & a little mercy in the tea.

Support yourself

At the end of the day,
You must be able to support yourself
Roof over your head,
Food,clothes, shelter
And not be dependent on any one else

Short story

A Short Story by Lydia Davis

The Outing

An outburst of anger near the road, a refusal to speak on the path, a silence in the pine woods, a silence across the old railroad bridge, an attempt to be friendly in the water, a refusal to end the argument on the flat stones, a cry of anger on the steep bank of dirt, a weeping among the bushes.

- Lydia Davis, The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis

Fight

Get used to fighting.

If you don't fight
You will be incapacitated
You will be taken advantage of
You will die.

Get used to fighting
Or get used to giving up
Or get used to dying

Stand up for yourself
Fight.
It's a way of life

You need to get used to it

Never escape

We will never escape the cruel world….

Awareness

When someone is creeping on your boundaries…

Not broke but sheltered

I don't thing you are broken, but you are sheltered

Exposing my wound

Exposing my wound about avoidance

I am avoidant

I hate that I am avoidant and when the consequence happens to me, I get really mad

Everyday

You have to work on you.
Do your work.
You came alone.
Do the work alone.
Set time to do work on your own…

Do YOU loki

Own your life.
Regulate your life.
Be the driver of your life.
Do what makes you happy.
Fuck every one else.

Plan every day like you want it planned.
You come first.

Your life
Your finances
Your design

Do not compromise.
That is is the old Loki

Seek sanctuary
Know who you are
Your feelings come first
Take care of you first
Take care of you.
Do you.

Boundaries

Boundaries are in the middle….

I don’t want to deal with stuff

I don't to be forced to deal with stuff.

I don't want to deal with shit.

-///

Which is why I want to do God's work

I want to do God's work

——-

Deal with stuff

If you ignore stuff
If you don't deal with stuff

Stop trying to ignore stuff that you don't want to do…

You have to stop ignoring or hiding away from the things you have to do…

What you have to end:
I have this issue of avoidance with conflicts of my daughter..
I have this issue with avoidance with finances..

—-
It will have a consequence…

Set your terms

This is how I feel respected.
This is how I feel love.

I matter

Love and discipline

Love and discipline are not in opposition

Boundaries

Demand how you need to be treated.
Don't Beg

Don't beg to be loved.

Only wonder makes us fall to our knees

Exercise

It's not exercise unless you sweat

Two good things cancel each other

Bacon wrapped scallops
Surf and turf
Lobster stuffed with crab
—-
Lobster is perfectly fine on its own
Don't need bacon on scallops! They are fine separately

I don't need some cow on my lobster
